Hey all,
I am (insert noob moniker here) and have jsut successfully loaded a live cd version of DSL on my system. The odd part, after shutting down DSL and rebooting my machine without the bootable cd in the drive, I go back to my normal desktop, all is usual until I want to shut down my machine. When I go to the start button and select shutdown, my machine restarts. This happens when I go through the start menu and when I use the shutdown button on my keyboard. The machine won't turn off! I have to hold the power button in for 5 seconds to get the thing to turn off. I am admittedly the noobiest of the noobs....but I was under the impression that the bootable cd was the safest way to experience and learn about linux while maintaining the integrity of my windows machine.
I'm running XP, Intel 2.8 HT, 1024 ram, shuttle box and mainboard.
The distro runs fine....the only problem I'm having at this point is this niggling little bug. Hope you can help. Thanks in advance.
