Hey, I have a Dell latitude with a burned out temperature sensor. I windows, I used FanGUI to turn on my fan, but is there a way to do this in DSL? Any help you could provide will be greatly appreciated ad I can't really use linux without the laptop overheating.

Well, I downloaded it and followed the instructions.
Make worked, make install worked, but make module returned an error that some module owner thingy was set explicitly and then said that it was unversioned or something. I think that this is covered in there but I don't get the workaround. If you need the error just ask. If I do make modversion, another workaround that was suggested in the readme, I just get an error 1 with no message. My kernel is 2.4.26, but I think thats just what came with DSL. I also found this on the debain site as a package and installed it in hopes that it might work. While it installed, it doesn't seem to do anything unless theres a certain thing you have to do to get commands from debian packages to work (I wouldn't know, I don't really install debian packages that much).

Well, I figured it out. It kept telling me to run insmod --force and I did but I had to do

insmod --force i8k

and not

insmod --force i8k.o

Thanks.

Hey, DSL crashed on my comp, so I switched to Debian, but now I can't get I8k to compile so I was wondering if anyone could mail me the module at arew264(at)gmail.com
