Tried fedora it does not work for me. I cannot get it to do everything my win2k does and get an install under 3g.

I have ordered a new asus mb but need to get this running on this machine first then will slowly move stuff where it needs to be.

I have a old hp running 333 mhz and 96 megs mem. It runs win2k great. a bunch of old pc's running 233 mhz to 700 mhz. one 4 gig hd and one 3 gig hd

I have downloaded everything I can from the dsl site. I have gave MS a fortune over the years if I can get this to work. I have no problam buying cd's from from the company that made it but only if it works for me. I have every ms os made starting from dos 3.3 up to winxp pro. I evan have a working copy of the first windows. .96 or something most people do not evan know it existed.

I am going to need more help than most to learn this I have done nothing but point and click for so long.

my first question is to get a server that will do all my routing and conect through my cable modem online. roadrunner
webserver and do programing on my space limits.

Can I do this and will somebody help me.

I would suggest breaking this down into little steps...  There is LOADS of info on these forums - just remember to use the search using AND between terms, and selecting "from the beginning" and Newer when searching.

Also get dsl up and running and connecting to your win2k server first - once you've gotten used to running it as a client, look into running it as a server.

You want to have the server running as the firewall/router?  Ie all the clients connecting to it, and then the server connecting to the cable modem?  Why not just get a router, and have the server as one of the computers on the net?

The cable modem with a router with dsl is great - boot up and it is ready, no adjustment required for me.

Programming - gcc.dsl is on the mydsl button.

I do not know if you remember but back about 10 maybe 12 years ago there was a lot of articles about putting everything on one computor and just having everyone go there for it.
Thats what I did. It worked great. But now things are changeing and I need to seperate my workload. Just hooking up a linux client will not help.

Heres what I did since I first posted.

A complete backup of my server.
burned and checked out dsl.
tried to install dsl on my harddrive.

everything went fine untill it tried to set up  mklilo bootloader.

For some reason lilo did not write to the bootsector on my harddrive. I am back to check out posts on lilo and see if I can find the answer.

When I checked the live cd and it set up all my hardware. If I expand on it I can do what I need to do.

any body know how to set up dsl with a another bootloader.

Some others have reported success with LILO by answering N to the mkliloboot prompt and then running it later on from the command prompt:
