Topic: DSLRoot Password, Need help desperatly

So I had someone install DSL for me, and he didn't set or change the DSL root password. So now, I can't su, because I don't know what my password is. I'm thinking it may be a DSL default. Does anyone know what that default is, or how to change my root password?

I don't often answer questions and am not much of a brain box but I think you need to provide more information here at least for me. When you say someone installed it for you did they do a hard drive install? As far as there being a default there is not such thing. You don't mention that you have tried:

Code Sample

sudo su

But as this is covered in the getting_started.html file I would figure this is clear.
Try 'sudo su' and if that does not work then personally I will need more info. Good luck.:p

Sorry I didn't specify. It is installed on my HD, and sudo su does work. It's set to log in automatically into my DSL user. But when I just type in su, and I'm asked for a password I have no idea what to type in. Is there any way of finding out or just changing my password other than reinstalling it? I'm pretty computer literate (new to linux though) so I can handle any difficult coding. The problem is I'm also a lazy computer, so I'd rather avoid reinstalling after configuring my DSL to look exactly the way I want.

if you can be dsl , automagically,
type 'sudo su' when you're there type 'passwd root' change password. if you want DSL user to have a password, 'passwd dsl'
change password.

when done it will have changed your passwords.
