I'll get straight to the point:

I am having trouble doing the following with DSL:

1:  Opening up a window to view the contents of my cd rom

I can get the firefox browswer open and navigate my way the the cdrom, but nothing is inside.

2:  When I open Emelfm, the top of the app is higher than the top edge of the screen and I cannot do anything with that.

3:  Changing the resolution.  Right now I am on 640x480.

Well, that's it so far.  Thanks for the help.

1) the cdrom must be mounted first: mount /dev/cdrom or mount /dev/cdrom1
2) You can use Alt+drag to move and resize windows, left button drag moves and right button resizes.
3) edit .xserverrc or run the "xsetup.sh" command

Okay, some more searching brought me to the conclusion that I had to be superuser to mount the cd; which now it is mounted.

Thanks so much for the Alt + drag pointer.  That was about annoying.

And haven't messed with the resolution yet.

Things are moving right along for me.

Thanks,
