i set up Sylpheed to get my pop3 email.  I click 'get' to retrieve my email,  it connects and starts receiving email,  then stops and says

"Can't write file!"

I assume it has something to do with chmod or chown?? but im not sure what to change.  I don't want to be stupid and run Sylpheed as root,  so what am I missing?

Maybe /home/dsl/Mail ownership/perms.
Should be dsl and staff.

/home/dsl/Mail didn't even exist.  I created it with ownership/perms  dsl and staff.  Still the same problem.  Thanx for response.

I know there is something simple and stupid that I'm doing,  I obviously just don't know what it is and it's very frustrating

Someone Please help!

Should have been created after your initial account setup.
I think....if it wasn't there already...
The only thing I can think of is to do a clean boot with no
restore/backup files involved, set up your Sylpheed new
account details, make sure /home/dsl/.sylpheed and /home/dsl/Mail
are in your filetool.lst, and that nothing else in your backup
is affecting these, and generate a new backup file.
Thats assuming you are using one.
I don't know if you're live/frugal/HD/persistent etc.
When setting up your new account preferences, in the advanced tab,
set up what folders your messages go into.
Hope this helps!

Thanx,  it did help.  I'm back to normal.

My problem occured when I tried to transfer my sylpheed account info from one computers backup.tar.gz to another computers backup.tar.gz.  I don't remember exactly how I tried to do it.  I think I tried to only copy the  'accountrc' file from home/dsl/.sylpheed directory (which I wouldn't recommend).
