Wow! It's been so long ago when I originally inquired about this, is sees the post just dropped off the bottom of the forum(!?!)

Back then I was on version 0.9 or something. Someone said to wait on a 'real' 1.x release and I thought I had but then they said that having 'rc' in the title amounted to "not yet".

...so here I am on DSL 1.2.1. The buttons for making charts actually appear this time (bitmaps were mislinked before) and when I click them a wizard pops up asking me about the size I want for my chart. I tell it 400x300 or so and a bar graph...

...no chart!  :O

There are a few ascii files dumped into /tmp which I think are supposed to work with gnuplot, but I don't see how to do this.

I "could" live with the unique formula handling that siag uses (no more "=SUM(A1..A4)", but having a chart feature which just doesn't work is unforgivable in a spreadsheet. Can this be fixed up in releases of DSL (please) or is siag simply the wrong spreadsheet to be using?

siag isn't the easiest spreadsheet to use.  In order to plot siag uses gnuplot.  You need to load the gnuplot.tar.gz extension.  Then you need to make it so siag can find the gnuplot program.  If you're running from a liveCD in a bash shell type:

sudo /etc/init.d/mkwriteable

Then in a bash shell run

sudo ln -s /opt/gnuplot/bin/gnuplot /usr/bin/gnuplot

Now the plotting should work, but it's still wonky.  Thats siag...
