Ok after looking through the repository I compared the dsls to current versions.

Exhibit A:

The current DSL:
AirSnort 0.11

The current release:
Airsnort 0.27e

Thats the only one example but there are many more. The thing is that whats the point of using a program or game that is completely outdated? Dont get me wrong here I appreciate all of the hard work and efforts that you make. I am just saying that the DSL repository needs some major updates. I looked through several threads where there is scripts for making a dsl but it was a quite scattered bunch of info (a tutorial would be excellent).

Just a little heads up you guys. BTW if anyone has made a DSL of the latest version of airsnort give me shout (I need it).

There was recently a halt (or severe slow-down) in new extensions while they were being modified to work with DSL 1.0. I can't speak for others, but i just stopped submitting extensions during this time and have only now begun to consider returning to it. Maybe the others have done similarly.

Another thing to consider is that this is entirely voluntary....all those who build and submit extensions, including ke4nt, do so in their free time. Keeping packages always updated can be an annoyance. The options you have include 1) be patient...an upgrade will occur sooner or later, 2) do more research and post questions here about building your own extensions.

Please feel free to submit a 0.27e version of airsnort
to share with this community..

Contrary to your post, the gtk2 section of the repository
has an 0.26 version I submitted 6 months ago.
It requires the gtk2.dsl for support, a fat addon.

Many folks do not want to add gtk2 support on their
low-ram or underpowered systems, which is why the older
gtk1.2 version still remains here in the repository.

Should you choose to accept this mission, you will need to
make it work with our existing gtk2.dsl package,
or you may also want to update IT to the latest 30 day release as well.

Generally speaking,

newer versions = more bloat

I'm sure that there are exceptions but in most cases the size and RAM used go up with each version. For example, when Rox Filer goes up to GTK2 version instead of GTK1.2 it chews up a lot more space and RAM.

So it is better to keep with the 1.2 version even if some new features are not provided.

If you disagree, you can always correct the situation yourself.

It's not exactly on the top of my list of things to do right now or in the foreseeable future.

How bad is gtk2? Is horrendously resources consuming? And thanks for the responses.

I seem to be missing something but where is the gtk2.dsl? I looked through the repository and I only found apps that use it. Should be linked where it says it in the red (see the gtk2 repository folder).

As for airsnort, thanks for that release of 0.26. I have yet to try it out but it I will fill you in on how it works.

Hmmm....Any one do trillian yet?
