If I can come upwith a spare $20 I'm going to destroy one of these things so I can try to recover it. So far I've installed DSL on five of them without any problems. I think you should be able to recover it, in theory. You may be able to use CFdisk to delete any resident partitions, then reformat as FAT16. The geometry maybe needs to be fixed. I can't help simplify the process any. A lot of it needs to be done on paper with a calculator.
