I've installed DSL in a Kingston Datatraveler 1Gb. As my bios seems not to allow booting from usb devices I 've made e boot floppy and enter the option: dsl fromhd=/dev/sda1

Then DSL find the image on usb and boots. But when I try to write any file, then when I reboot my file is gone away. It seems as if DSL was running to ram memory, not simulating a hd on usb pendrive.

Is correct what I'm doing? Or I'm missing something?

I couldn't find a complete and basical "HOW-to" install on usb yet? Anybody knows about it?

Regards,
Matías

dsl fromhd=/dev/sda1 frugal

Should do it for you.
Using the standard install scripts and booting from such provides a frugal environment for you.
But if you boot manually like you did then you need to add the frugal option.

I tried the frugal option when I boot. But unfortunatly it didn't work...
May be I'm doing something wrong? I tried to create a text file with vi and I wrote it to /home/dsl directory. Next time I boot the file is gone.

I've installed dsl on usb booting from cd and then I copied the image to usb using the option in Apps=>Tools

M.
