The BIOS of my laptop supports booting from USB-FDD but not USB-HDD and not USB-ZIP.
Is there any way to install DSL on a USB pen drive and make it boot as a USB-FDD?

Hi,

I guess that USB_ZIP is for usb-flashdrives, USB_HDD is for usb-harddrive-like, USB-FDD is usb-floppy-like; so you have to have a classical pendrive in order to boot DSL off the usb-drive, but I can't ensure you that it will boot off of your pendrive since I have no experience with USB-FDD.

How to install on pendrive? Run your live-cd, get the 'install on the pendrive' in the dsl menu, follow the text on screen, and you are good to go.

Advice: give the installation a try, it's quiete simple and just bring you 5 minutes. Then set your bios in order to boot on the usb-fdd, and reboot with your pendrive pluged in the machine. And you'll see if it works quickly. If not, you can formate your pendrive.

yours
