hello. filetool.sh is the command line utility to do backup/restore of files. please type 'filetool.sh' from a terminal. the device used to do backup/restore with filetool can be listed in /opt/.backup_device so, if backing up to floppy, 'echo fd0 > /opt/.backup_device' filetool.sh backup will backup the files AND directories listed in filetool.lst
filetool.lst does not only take "single filenames" but also whole directories...
you can add a user by export EDITOR=yourfavouriteeditorhere i prefer vi (nvi/vim, whatever floats your boat...) use the command 'vipw' however, you can also 'useradd' from the command line. after changing users/passwords, you might want to add the passwd files to your filetool.lst
/etc/passwd /etc/shadow /etc/passwd- /etc/shadow-
et s'il vous prefere /etc/group(-) also.
then your password changes will become permanent.
if there is a backup device listed in /opt/.backup_device, during shutdown/reboot filetool.sh automatically runs and attempts to backup your filestool.lst (sometimes there is a race condition involved in this, as i've found, but no one else has, so your mileage may vary)
enjoy DSL. hope this helps.
