Running on an HP COMPAQ dual-core with over 1GB RAM in XPProSP2.
1st try - QEMU aborts with 0x00471e2d referenced memory at 0x00000010 them memory could not be read.
I then marked QEMU to run in Win98 compatibility mode. It booted okay.
2nd try with a different append string - when I substituted "toram" for "frugal", it complained about not enough memory, and dropped back into a normal boot.
Suspect large memory is a problem - will try again at home where my machines are less well endowed
