What files did you add to the /home/dsl/.filetools.lst file that the backup uses to see which files to save?  I added these files and my backup restored the user and his directory in an embeded version of dsl:

/etc/passwd
/etc/shadow
/home/new_users_name

If you added more users save their directories as well.  Also add /etc/group if you added any groups.
