Can mplayer be updated to more current? The current one does not play quicktime movies(like from apple trailers).

I updated mine on my own through apt-get and the nerim and debian sarge repos. It took me hours to get past the libxv1 error. Finally i got everything working and can now play quicktime vids.

I happened to compile a recent cvs version of mplayer not that long ago on dsl (including mencoder).  No gui - cli only.  But you don't really need the gui.

Appears to work as a .uci. I'll test it again and then send to the repository.
