KNOPPIX had an option to automatically run a shell script from a floppy disk or from a CDROM or other location upon bootup. Basically, you just put a knoppix.sh file on your floppy disk and added the cheatcode to your syslinux.cfg default settings.
Since DSL is based on knoppix, this might even work as-is. If not, you can use the backup/restore or myDSL functionality to accomplish the same objectives. Read up on them to understand how they work.
