Maybe a new server. Maybe a part-time employees (personal assistant, admin officer, PR officer,) wage. I don't know.
I'm devoting a minute or an hour to think of a BASIC way to generate a few quid (bucks.)
I know. I've got it. A car boot sale, or rather, flog a few bits & bobs on ebay.
For starters, is the idea kosher, lawful. Ultimately it's up to John, he's commander-in-chief.
Anybody dubious of 'charity,' comprehend what Bob Geldof's saying about dead Africans washing up on the shores of Europe.

Choose a number. At least 3 or 5. My printer died recently, I've got a sealed black cartridge that's superfluous. I've got an unregistered Win95. I'm sure I've got a few bits of photo kit I'm not gonna use. I've a couple of books & cd's to go. I shan't go on!

If the ideas legit, the we need to do a few things;
We need to DO IT, NOW.
We need to draught an email.
We need to send an email to 5386 members. Receive an email from DSL, I know I'd be touched.
No pussyfooting around, you've got perhaps 3 or 4 weeks from receipt of email to do the business.

I await responses.
Yours Faithfully, Andrew.

How about marketing those mini-ITX's he's selling a little more.  I think those things would be a huge hit.  Maybe a banner ad system that can be placed around the page.  Also, think E-Bay!  Let me know if I can help.

jesseakc.
I do not know what a banner ad system is.
Definately think ebay.
Personally, I think a reasonably priced logod usbdrive would be VERY COOL, but such a venture would require signifcant funding.
I do not know what John thinks.

AwPhuch,
I think that DSL is the BEST mini distro. I think that mini distros are of massive significance in the world, with a massive range of uses, check out, for example, ROSLIMS Linux. I once photographed patients dying of hunger in an eastern european psychiatric hospital. Ever looked into the eyes of a person dying of hunger. Also, check out the 'simputer,' very interesting.

On Johns index page, he clearly asks one to consider making a donation, and ahrefs on to state that he relies on the honour of the user base for funding.
If he RELIES on us, then we are BOUND to him, it is our OBLIGATION.
John runs a BUSINESS, and that requires FUNDING. I believe that John deserves the best chance possible at staying up there as the front runner, I believe that DSL is the best, John is the Best.

I think that my (1st.,) fundraising idea, is a walk in the park. Click a button and send 5404 members an email.

As for what I personally get out of DSL. I find the full-fat distros overwhelming, whereas DSL has a certain simplicity and cleanliness, partly by virtue of it's size, facilitates simpler learning and mastery, ultimately developing my computer skills, and, incidentally, greatly so.
I pursue developing my computer skills for the benefit of my own personal development as an organism. Also, I think it will be rather interesting to see what computers facilitate in the world, certainly between now and 2020, and 2050.

AwPhuch, if DSL is a Godsend, it's an angels (benevolent agent of divine purpose, cybernetician,) job to assist. Pray for angels!
