I'm hoping someone in the Linux world may know of a distro that would fill my needs.  I'm looking for something that would run similar to a snap server.  DSL looks like it is part way there but I want to be able to just set it up so it boots then be able to control some of the settings via a browser from another machine like shares, ip, file management etc...

Thanks in advance for any ideas

You may want an embedded Linux board like this:

Some time ago, I found FreeNAS. Maybe this is something you like.

Quote

FreeNAS is a free NAS (Network-Attached Storage) server, supporting: CIFS (samba), FTP, NFS, RSYNC protocols, local user authentication, Software RAID (0,1,5) with a Full WEB configuration interface. FreeNAS takes less than 16MB once installed on Compact Flash, hard drive or USB key.
The minimal FreeBSD distribution, Web interface, PHP scripts and documentation are based on M0n0wall.

Thanks, FreeNAS is exactly what I wanted.  I know next to nothing about Linux and it is easy to use.  Since that was so easily answered I have another question now.

Are any Distros that are made to be a VPN server?  Similar to how easy FreeNAS is to use.

SmoothWall Express 2.0

Also has addon module as a MOD for OpenVPN (that uses SSH) as well
