Hi, I bet you already got lots of questions like this one, but I couldn't find a match.

How can I install DSL on a WINDOWS XP PC without deleting WINDOWS or any existing files on my HD. And I don't want to boot from that liveCD.

PS: in the moment I am running DSL from that liveCD, but I want to install it on my HD that I don't have to insert the CD every time I want to launch DSL.

You need free space in your HDD for DSL (hda2+hda3+hda4). You may use PartitionMagic for hda1 partition size reducing first.

Once you get some free space on the hard drive, then you should be ready to go. Tons of posts describing dual boot configurations.

You can copy the image file to the hard drive booting with the

Code Sample

tohd=/dev/hda1

cheatcode and next time boot with

Code Sample

fromhd=/dev/hda1

. So you don't reaaly need to create a partition.

gmgler, since you don't want to boot from CD, you should choose GRUB Frugal install in HDD (hda3). You can boot from HDD and select DSL or xp in GRUB menu.
