This particular issue has been discussed earlier on this forum, but I haven't yet found any real explanation or fix for it.

I have been using a full HD install of DSL 2.2 for a couple of weeks now and I have also used Opera 8.50 UCI extension almost every time I have booted the system. At some time I loaded it with a line in bootlocal.sh or .xinitrc (I tried both). Now I have removed those entries.

I don't know what happened or when, but now when I try to shutdown I get messages saying "Please mount media containing optional directory", to which I can reply by pressing Enter, and the system finally agrees to shutdown.

Opera850.uci is also reported as mounted/unmounted 2 times on the terminal even if it wasn't mounted at all during my session.

Now the problem seems to have deepened so that I cannot mount many UCI's simultaneously anymore. The same message about "optional directory" appears in X when I try ty install an another UCI. It also seems to be impossible to install any UCI's after they have all been unmounted.

The issue has something to do with /dev/cloop directories. I don't know what they are, as I am not that experienced in Linux. "No such device" is the message...

On my /opt directory there has also appeared mysterious empty directories called /fre and /frree. The shutdown process complains about them too, saying they don't exist.

I tried to load the extensions again and on a different partition, but that doesn't solve the problem.

Besides Opera850.uci, I have sometimes used Sunbird.uci and OpenOffice (the 1.1.0 version).

I hope someone can make sense of this messy description...

Thanks in advance!

It is fixed in dsl v2.3RC1.
If you have a frugal install then it is simple to 'upgrade'.
You may want to conside that kind of install as many new features and bug fixes are easy to handle with a frugal type install.

Your cloop table is full. As root you can manually fix it.
place 'free' in the first 8 lines of /etc/sysconfig/mydsl

Thank you, I'll try to fix it.

Otherwise I'll have to install DSL anew (real HD install was the only option for my old laptop with only 48MB RAM).
