Topic: how to remove applications?, is there some way to remove dsl extens?

still, i prefer a hd install over a frugal install because a hd install looks more like a full system i think, but now i still have this problem:

yesterday i installed the gimp, okay. i tried it. didnt start. so i thought okay, i dont need it anyway so i wanted to remove it, but how should i do this on a hd install. i mean, i cant find any apps to remove them. and deleting them manually isnt that great

i heard there was a script to do this, but the person who told me that had no idea where to find it, me neither...

so, is there a way to remove apps in a somewhat easy way?

mySDL extensions are NOT meant to be used with traditional hd installs. Because there isn't any uninstall!

With frugal install you can always return to the original settings, so uninstall isn't needed.

You can always just delete the gimp icon and gimp from the menu. If you dont want to see them anymore...

If you still have the gimp myDSL package you can use the command tar -ztf filename.dsl > filelist.txt to build a list of the files that were installed. This should make it easier to remove the files.

It's true that there was at least one project in the works that would manage mydsl packages, but that one will never be finished. I started working on a package manager a couple months ago, but dumped it quickly. It was a dull task, and I decided it wasn't worth the trouble developing something in which I had no personal interest. My attention is better focused on frugal systems and UCI packages, which require no package management.

Thanks mikshaw, I'll try that also..
.If it helps..remember to backup all the dsl extentions that work for you. and try a bunch at a time. I used the seek delete ( I check the fluxbox menu for the path to the exe and delete these and the icon..) and cleaned up a bit and try some more. then reinstall and add all the ones that you like. from back up. I find that this is common in all os's some more so than others. the easy install and one click my.dsl make the uninstall issue relative. there is lots of flexibility in back up..I used split/join at first, then just stored on a partition. or you can burn them..like all freeware...test and use what works for you..: )
