Hi all, I changed my mind on installing SuSE Linux on an older computer, instead I want to try Debian. I'm thinking it might work better on the older computer. Anyway I'm having trouble getting the netinstall to work and I think it might be do to some type of CD reading problem. The thought just crossed my mind that I might be able to use DSL (it boots and runs fine on the older computer) to download the netinstall direct to the HD. I'm good on the use of cfdisk, getting the file system setup and mounting the HD. What I can't seem to wrap my brain around is after the .iso image is copied to the HD is it booted just like it would be when using the CD drive or would it be unpacked somehow? Would I need to set up a partition for the CD image so it won't clobber itself?

Any good reads on doing this would be great.

Or would I be better off simply trying to install DSL as Debian and then update to the full version?

I assume you're talking about the netinstall cd iso? If so, you just burn a cd from it and boot up from that cd. It's an installer.

No. Can't update that way because dsl is not pure debian Woody.
