no, I didn't run swapoff, it just seemed to go with the swapon thing in the title...........
So I partitioned my hard drive correctly, but had not yet activated the swap partition - I did a search, found the instructions (forgot about the damned 'sudo' thing), ran the commands and...........then the little status thingy in the upper right-hand corner of my desktop updated
Swap Used: 0/243M - 0%
I was so happy I high-fived myself!
OK, that's all..........
