Hi,
I have used a few Linux before but wanted to revive an old P2-233 with DSL.  I have successfully installed 3.1 rc2 on the 4 gig drive with a frugall install and grub.  It boots up fine but I need to enter my vesa, language, keyboard and other options every time I start up.  Is there a way of saving these options to the hard drive along with other options like background colour, mouse clicks 1/2 and all the other things I have changed to make them permanent.

I have found the .filetool.lst and menu.lst files and also my tmp/ directory but not sure what to do with them.  Is there a DSLnewbie guide to frugal HD install somewhere that I can read?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sorry!  I read the Wiki, System>Backup/Restore, type hda1 = job done!

I forgot to mention that I am well impressed with DSL 3.1.  It is a match for many distros I could mention that fill a CD, and would not even think of running on a P2.

Hey I run Fedora on a P2. Even a P1!

If my socially retarded friend hadn't stripped the memory and disks, tossed the computer and moved to a new town all in the same day I would consider trying it in an IBM PS2 with the 25 mHz processor and all.
Got to do something with the older puters, other than putting all that toxic metal into landfills which drain into our water supply.

At least until they find a safe way to recycle PC board.

ps right now I am not even considering running Fedora on anything more. They have it bloated to the point that you can't start the install from a floppy anymore.
