i've got this old laptop that only has a floppy drive, no cd drive.  we tried to put windows 95 on it, but half the disks were corrupted.  so, win95 runs but most of the components are missing.

what i want to do is just totally wipe off windows and everything, and then install DSL as the operating system.  i have no idea how to go about formatting the hard drive or making partitions.  any help would be greatly appreciated!

This question comes up often here and you might try to search the wiki and forum with the key word "poorman".  Basically what you do is get a floppy Linux like "tom's root disk" and use it to partition your harddrive.  After that you need to get the Knoppix directory on your harddrive and use the DSL floppy bootdisk.
