I cant get dsl to install on the hard drive.

And I cant just use it from live cd because it takes like 5 + minutes to boot up.

questions...

1. When booting dsl live cd with bootfloppy, does it usually boot extraordranaryly slow?

2. Is there a way to boot up on the cd, then install dsl from a usb. (this computer has one usb drive, It wont work with bootfloppy-usb tho...it only works after dsl is running).

Everytime i tried to install dsl...it would go alright then I would get errors like this:

scsio: ERROR on channel 0, id, 0 lun 0, cdb:0x03 00 00........on and on....

then other ones like this:

Cloop: read error at pos 46122 in file /cdrom/knoppix/knoppix, 22616 bytes lost.

And still more error logs:

I/O ERROr sector....whatever....
...you get the point.

What am I doing wrong?

Looks like either
- your dsl media is corrupted
- your drive is corrupted

1. not really much different
2. dont understand what you mean

Im going to download dsl again, burn another cd and see if it was the dsl files.

Would syslinux work better in my situation?

About my drive being corrupted, would that be my harddrive? Would re-formatting it fix that?

What I meant about 2. is this:

Could I boot up with the live cd, then tell the computer to install dsl to the hard drive, from a usb flash drive.
I think it would install much smoother from usb, as my cd-rom is very old and I dont think it reads very consistantly. I can barely get it to boot up at all.

Win95 2 dsl,

I don't know what kind PC you have but if it's an older one like mine the CDROM is getting flaky and doesn't read the CDR's very well.  If you have space on your harddrive and install DSL your booting will speed up some.  This is a good link for harddrive installs:

as to the usb... my old win95a can't see the usb ports, tho dsl likes them just fine.
