I have a hard drive w/ DSL already installed on it but when I install the hd to one of my computers and boot, I am greeted by this message from DSL:

KERNAL PANIC: VFS UNABLE TO MOUNT ROOT FS ON 03:01 PLEASE APPEND A CORRECT "ROOT:" BOOT OPTION

What does that mean and how do I fix it? Is it a low memory problem with the cpu? Thanks for the help.

The two computers are probably seeing the drive as a different device. For example, if you had originally installed DSL to a primary slave (hda2) and then moved it into the primary master slot (hda1) of the other computer, it won't work because the bootloader will still look for it in hda2.

You will need to modify your bootloader's config file, and possibly reinstall the bootloader depending on your original setup.
