I needed more space,  so I created hda4 and did a frugal, grub install of 3.2 from a disk.  I used cfdisk to flag hda4 as boot. No grub folder was on hda4, so I copied one and edited menu.lst to root=hda4.

Before deleting hda1 (original boot partition), I want to make sure everything is working. No matter what I do, hda1 gets chosen by the bootloader (including editing from the boot menu) If any files are removed or altered from hda1, I get stuck on error 13.   So what am I not doing??

OK...got  it going... (I thought the (y...) option on the format step was the default).
