if you work on an old computer with a non-bootable cdrom, then you need smart boot manager. It's a 30k program you can get on web called sbootmgr.dsk. just rawrite or fdimage this file to a floppy. boot it, then change the setting in the menu to cdrom boot. It always works, i've been able to boot any cd on my thinkpad 760xl. You'll will say fewer bad words when using this program...

It doesn't always work.

Smart Boot Manager is a great program, but it doesn't like non-ATAPI / IDE CDROM drives.

If you have an old computer like a 486 / Pentium 1 / Pentium MMX, you may have one of those CDROM drives that plugs into the sound card instead of the IDE controller and it uses a special interface and driver.

SBM will fail in this situation.
