Ok i've got a system that i can get DSL to run on with a boot floppy and a CD, what i'm trying to do is get DSL to boot from the HD as the old floppy and CD-ROM are really slow. That, and cause i just want to say i got it to work :)

So i follow along with the frugal install instructions, i use cfdisk to create two partitions hda1 is 100mb hda2 is the rest of the drive.
Both are primary partitions, specified for linux.

When i follow the instructions, i get done telling the script where i want everything installed. It does everything seemingly without error.

When i restart without a boot cd or floppy the kernel says it's loaded, DSL starts and prints a line something line
Detecting SCSI ai7xxx.o

I assume this means that DSL is trying to see if there are any scsi drives and hanging. The computer dosen't have any scsi drives however.

Can anyone determine what might be causing this error, any suggestions?

If i need to elaborate on any point please say, and i appreciate any help in advance.

Ok new piece to my own puzzle, after fiddling with my above problem, i discovered that DSL must be on my HD. If i boot DSL with the included boot disk then run dsl it will search and find the install on HDA1.

What would cause the Kernel to not work they same way without the boot disk files. Do i need to copy files off the boot disk to somewhere? If so where?

Forgive me if i've just exposed a noobish problem while i have years of Windows experience I have virtually no Linux experience.

Any help is appereciated in advance.
