Hi,
i like to know is there a way to manual copy the DSL-CD content to a native linux partition and then boot/run/install from HD2HD?

Because with dsl-hdinstall i get many cloop: errors... and when it comes to mklilo it freezes...

I had SBM installed maybe i need to fdisk mbr first?

Any thoughts?

Yes

Copy the \knoppix\knoppix file over to your FIRST partition as /knoppix/knoppix  (make sure that you get the uppercase/lowercase letters correct.  In linux, I believe that it is /KNOPPIX/KNOPPIX or /knoppix/knoppix)

Then download the boot floppy image file from the DSL site.  Then download rawrite or rawrite32 (search google) and create a new boot floppy disk.

Or if you are using linux, just use the "dd" command, ie:

Open root terminal

dd if=bootfloppy_filename.img  of=/dev/fd0

Then use the boot floppy disk to start up DSL and please use this boot command at the prompt:

dsl frugal

Thank you,
rightnow i try to start with the dsl floppy boot -> hd and default.
It seems slightly the ram of 16mb and or 90Mhz too low for DSL GUI?

I have a DSL bootdisk here - how should the syslinux.cfg lookalike for the knoppix on hd dir?
Code Sample
DEFAULT linux24
APPEND ramdisk_size=100000 init=/etc/init lang=us apm=power-off vga=791 initrd=minirt24.gz nomce noapic quiet BOOT_IMAGE=knoppix
TIMEOUT 300

And i think i have some problems with the linux partition - does a xfdisk (native linux partition) is ok - getting cloop errors and mount erros with reiserfs erros on install after "INIT 5"?
I tried http://ajd344.aj.funpic.org/cool/dlsinstall.html for diffrent ext2 setup but can t boot cdrom and cant find quick a bootdisk for the rescue cd....

Rightnow i reinstall xosl for getting a working SBM to boot the rescue disc and install ext2 partition file system.

Ok booting now  Boot System Rescue CD!
Crashing while: USING /modules/cloop.o
...1st run it gave a kill command 2nd run freezes...great :-p

And howto copy the cd content to the native linux partition with isolinux shell?

I think i use dna to wipe all HD data...and start a fresh try to partition ext2....

I used xfdisk to make a dos partition FAT32 and a linux swap(73) and a linux native partition.

Now i try the failsafe DSL boot option ...takes ages to load i just see a blue screen and the cdrom is working....
I burn a new cd mybe the current is CRCed.
When it still fizzles i will use netBSD install for makeing ext2 partitions and try the manual copy method...

hmmmmmmm

Here, try this boot setup:

http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin....and+low

Then create a swap partition and format it.  Reboot and your new swap partition will be automatically detected and you should be able to get into the GUI
