I done a HD install of DSL ... got just past the root/user password part and now it says "box login". Sorry, but I'm a newbie to the Linux field so could some please tell me what I'm supposed to do?? I'm stumped.

Type "dsl" without the quotes and press enter.  That is your user name.  
Then type the password you set up for user dsl.  You should then be logged into X.  If you are not, then you will need to type "startx."
