Hi,

I'm trying to get my PS/2 mouse to work in DSL. When I run DSL with the lowram option, the mouse will work in X. But any other option or install the mouse will not work. DSL find the PS/2 mouse fine, the X-Server shows that it using the correct mouse (/dev/psaux) but will not work. Very frustrating when you need the mose to do anything in X-Server. Can anyone tell me what parameters the lowram option uses that would enable the mouse to work only in that instance?

Thanks,
Skydart

Open emelfm and go to the boot and isolinux directories.  There should be a file called isolinux.cfg

The options for "lowram" are listed in the append statement under the word lowram.

Hi Cbagger01,

Thanks for the suggestion but I'm not having any luck following it. I have done the HD Install and that does not allow me to use X with the mouse, so I have booted with DSL1.5 in the lowram. I can  open emelfm but I can only find the boot directory and within that I only /grub or System.map. I cannot find the isolinux directory anywhere.  Is there any way to search for the isolinux.cfg file?

isolinux is only used for the livecd

Your equivalent config file should be in the /grub directory

However, if you wish to learn more about the "lowram" append parameters, please boot from livecd and go to the /cdrom/boot  directory.

You may then be able to add some of these parameters to your grub configuration and then use grub to activate your changes.

you also might want to try booting your hd installed system and then press CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE and then type

xsetup.sh

and then try out some different choices for mouse and xserver

then type

startx

to go back into graphical mode.

I guess I'm not working with the right DSL version or my old PC is a piece of crap (probably the later). I'm using DSL 1.5 syslinux version (the regular version does not boot from the CDROM for me) and when I go to the /boot/grub directory I have a menu.lst file which does not contain any references to the lowram option.  If everyone or anyone else can find this information can't they just post the grub string information for me?

Frustrated!
