Hi there.

I'm trying to install Damn Small to a 64 Meg Compact flash card, and I'm having some... Unexpected results.

I created a new partition on the CF (/dev/sda1), formatted it as Ext2, and ran the dsl-hdinstall, which proceeded to tell me that there was no availible space on the drive while it was trying to copy the DSL files.

I then attempted the frugal install, which I couldn't get to work because the script insisted it would only work reliably on /dev/hda and wouldn't run.

Is there something I'm missing? Is there something I didn't do correctly? I appreicate any help you can give me.

The dsl-hdd install extracts all of the files and once installed comes to about 200Mb (I think).  You will have to do a frugal install on that CF Card.

I've been trying that.. It dosen't seem to want to work properly...

Code Sample
root@ttyp0[root]# frugal_install.sh

DSL Compressed Image Install/Upgrade.
No responsibility for data loss or hardware damage!

A linux partition large enough to hold the image file
must be created prior to installation.
Enter the target partition to hold image (EXAMPLE: hda1): sda1
Sorry the script currently only works reliably on hda.
Script is terminating...
Press any key.

/dev/hda is my main OS drive, and I would very much like to keep it intact. So how do I get around this?

Edit: The frugal_grub script seems to work, but produces an unbootable finished product.

Try installing using "apps-->tools-->install to usb pen drive" since you are running the card through USB and not an adapter.
