The missing so files are just plugins. Xmms in DSL gives this warning all the time, with no trouble during playback. Personally I would look through the whole dmesg output if grep doesn't give you anything useful, or try grepping for 'hd' or 'sd' instead of 'scsi'. I think all you need to do is find the appropriate device name, which could be hdc, hdd, sda, or some other thing. Also, if the drive was attached during boot, there should be an entry for it in /etc/fstab.
