Ok, I bought this card because it was supposed to be the easiest to get running, but.......I must be really dense.
I have tried all the gui tools and futzed around with manual configs too, but no progress. The strange part is:
ifconfig=nothing
iwconfig=wlan0, no wireless extensions

dmesg=
cardmgr: /sbin/ifup wlan0
cardmgr: IBBS not started, resultcode=invalid_parameters
cardmgr: run-parts: /etc/network/if-pre-up.d/linux-wlan-ng_pre-up exited with a return code 1

I tried adding it manually to /etc/network/interfaces but still doesnt work.
Machine is a Thinkpad 380z, p2=266, 64Mb

Yea I'm having pretty much the same problem. I just got my Senao  2511 CD Plus ext2 200mw card today and I tried it with auditor and back track so far and I get the same result iwconfig=lo no wireless extensions, eth0 no wireless extensions" and in back track lo, eth0 and sit0 no wireless extensions? I've tried about 6 different cards now and all got the same result I also have a dwl-g650 with the same result. My lap-top is a HP Pavilion zv5370us AMD 64. 1800mhz, 512 MB Ram. I'm fairly a noob with linux I can get around but as in installing device driver's right now I'm a bit lost.

Your network device first requires a driver, and as with most OS's the correct driver depends on the chipset.
Investigate which chipset you have.

In the case of the D-Link DWL-G650, there are 3 different versions - revision A, B, and C containing different chipsets.

Yea my dwl-g650 I believe is revision B I know it uses the Atheros chipset and I have successfully broken WEP in windows with the Atheros driver with that card. I tried the ndiswrapper with that card and everytime it said invalid driver. Now I'm wondering is there something else I need to do or I just need to install the driver's for each card, the correct driver's? All I need is to get one card working and then I can figure the rest out myself at least I think so I would prefer to get the Senao card working it uses the Prism chip.

OK.  For Atheros-based devices your best solution is the MADWiFi driver.
For DSL 2.0 and 2.1 (2.4.31 kernel) you can use the this dsl package ftp://ibiblio.org/pub....ifi.dsl
There is an info file with instructions at the same location.  There is discussion about this driver here http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin....t=10389
DSL 2.2 (2.4.26 kernel) may already have the MADWiFi driver, I don't know.  Check for its presence with "modinfo ath_pci".

... Senao card ... it uses the Prism chip.

Prism2/2.5/3 (b mode) or PrismGT (g mode)?
If Prism2, launch the DSLpanel, then click Prism2.
Enter your SSID, and enter your WEP key - making sure to place a colon between every 2 characters.
Click OK.
Ping your wireless router to check if it's working.
