I scraped my RedHad installation for the far better suited to my needs DSL 0.71. I installed it to the HD and tried to set-up my Lucent winmodem (which was working fine in RedHat). I'm no Linux guru, I looked for .deb packages (none available for the 2.4.22-xfs kernel), I tried to complile my own module from source (no dev tools - obviously), I even tried to change the kernel to one that a .deb package does exist for (failed miserably - again, no dev tools). I am fed up with my computer, I've been trying for two days now with no results

Help anyone???

George

I use a Linksys EtherFast 10/100+56K Modem PC Card. Plug it in pcmcia slot and not hassle with winmodems. They are too slow anyway. I use this pcmcia card in all my laptops both for dial-up and network with DSL.
