If you do a frugal installation, most of the DSL 'stuff' is read-only on either the HD or the flash drive.  So, it's not available for modification.  Most virus/spyware/etc is targeted for Windows as this is the largest user base, but there are a few exceptions.  I'm sure that you could do a full install and then add a software firewall if you like.    Of course, some would argue that the best firewall is on separate hardware.

If you use DSL in either frugal, livecd or embedded, you have no problems, if your machine is attacked in any way, most of the system is loaded in RAM.
A hard drive install would be different.

EDIT: posted at unison with larkl, sorry for the duplication.

i'm not sure, what kind of installation it was.
i did it in way like:
1) boot from cd
2) on boot screen i entered "install" (from options of F2/F3)
3) i think its not read only?

i'm not scared about viruses, but about internet attack.
i have windows in hda1 and DSL on hda2.
if i'm starting DSL from hda2 without any firewall, what about my hda1 partition with windows, if someone could be conntected to me?
has he access to hda1?
because, if someone hack me, i believe that he know linuks very well and know how to enter hda1 patition with windows.
i know that linux can explorer windows partitions with no probs.
i didnt mount any, anyway.

--- edit:

is anybody tried this rcfirewall?
i downloaded it, it starts in bash, and in some seconds there is nothing...
is it normal?
how to check, is firewall work fine?
