Hi,
will this have advantages or is there no need to do?
I 'm asking because I'm using a hd-install and an uninstall of the package wouldn't be easy.

What to do after install? Do I have to configure (should I? have I to?)

Thanks for reply. C

edit:
iptables have already been installed
what about the screen locker?

If you have iptables already, all you do is configure it. It's not easy but you have tons of information on the web.

Unfortunately I have no clue of the rules for iptables. I even do not know what to set rules for.
I just want to have a security line preventing hackers to break in

This is what www.iptables.org list as main features of iptables:
   * listing the contents of the packet filter ruleset
   * adding/removing/modifying rules in the packet filter ruleset
   * listing/zeroing per-rule counters of the packet filter ruleset

Can you help me understanding these terms?

edit1: I guess a firewall without the need for setting rules in iptables could be better for a rookie

edit2: Maybe you think I am too lazy to read some docus. Maybe you re right ;) . But I hope I can get some basic protection without studying a 100 page long docu.

Maybe this is what you are looking?
Automatic firewall settings generator for iptables!

http://easyfwgen.morizot.net/gen/

I havent tried that, because I have a hardware firewall. Bought it for 40$ after widows software-firewall didn't start  (once) on bootup... that was the oend of that windows installation :( and one reason to move to linux.

This is a good introduction to the iptables firewall and how to set rules: http://linuxgazette.net/103/odonovan.html
