Successfully tested a temporary webserver today! Running DSL 0.7.1 (I think) with a USB mem stick to get some files to upload to the monkey directory. A few friends said they could view it :D

Heres some pics on my present site, sorry its been so long John :;):

View of the mini-itx box

These show much room isn't inside it

A quick pick of the setup :;):

And the proofs in the CRT, the screen on the leftis my dads machine looking at the server and the screen on the right is the server itself.

Heres bigger picture (note to prove it worked I added 'FRED' to the first line of the standard monkey page)

Much Kudos as always to all those involved in DSL!

Was able to view the site via the WWW on my network inc wirelessly from my main PC and even in the shed/shack with the laptop! (Still got the Libretto!)

P.S.: As future work could try to get lm_sensors so could measure the temperature of the server. Also, hope to get lcdproc to work so can have nice LCD panel strapped to side of case as a working command prompt so no need for seperate monitor! But those are far away projects for now...

Hope this inspires and shows what can be done with 50MB of Penguin power!

How schhwweeet !!  Good Work !!

Like the pics....

Also browsed around the website...
The little toshiba looks like a fun tool....
Shame about the lack of sound, it would make a great little rig for
Field Day events or logging/backpacking, etc..
PSK-31 would be cool, can you get a pcmcia soundcard for it ?

and truly, the K2 rocks.....
Even the K1 is an outstanding rig ..

Again, Good Work libretto...

Please share with us more details of your DSL configuration to
make it work, and how you intend to secure it ?
What ports did you open to make it thru your firewall?
What filesystem are you placing the pics in ?
HDInstall or LiveCD?
I'm assuming you already had the domain>ip established.

Thanks very much!:D

Well the Libretto 70CT does have audio, but only out (unless you want to start hacking wires and mics into it). Might look to upgrade to the 110CT which does have a line in. The Sony ones are nice but dont have built in serial port. But thats for later on... Found a site claiming that PSK31 had been done on an overclocked 50CT so i presume a soundcard was in use there.

Right heres the splurge:

The test server was running DSL 0.7.1 in RAM from the CD and I was using a trial restore to provide some test pics. Then simply controlled Monkey and SSH from the DSLpanel on the desktop. Not sure what the start/stop monkey command is for the command prompt? Then just opened port 80 (http) and 22 (SSH) in the router to the static IP address and hey presto a working server.

Hope to get registered with dynDNS.org soon...

As for securing, will attempt to lock off all uneeded ports, altough didnt see any using netstat. Also, will probably get iptables going to act as another firewall.

Not sure what you mean by 'What filesystems are you placing the pics in?', but just shoved them in the '/opt/Monkey/htdocs/' directory. If you mean the pics on my website, at the moment, thats a friend from unis server hes given me space on. Which is running gentoo on an Xbox!

Hope thats enough waffle!:D

P.S.: K2 #2448 and I hope to get  a HDD install of 0.7.3 working soon
