i just want to know if there is a linux alternative of windows "network neighbourhood" i have used the smbclient and for what i want todo now that truely does suck i want to be able to move between shares etc without having to start a new SMBclient for each share.

i am using DSL installed onto a "Virtual" harddrive basically using Microsoft Virtual PC to run DSL so as far as DSL is concerned it is installed on a perfectly fine and normal PC.

any help would be good as i know this is a basic thing but i cannot get it working.

also i am a serious linux Noob, so nice clear where to go instructions would be prefered..

If I understand correctly, you want to access the shared drives on your Windows. Go to the myDSL browser and download LinNeighborhood(samba.dsl). Once you have downloaded and activated it, you can add access to your network drives and share drives similar to 'Network Neighborhood.'
