Hello-

I have to admit I am new to DSL. I used the dsl-3.0.1-embedded image on a USB drive and it boots up great in Windows XP. The issue I am having is I cant get neither a static or dhcp IP to work via the host. I have tried it on several machines. When I select dhcp for example, it defaults to 10.0.2.15. As the image boots from the USB, the nic is recognized ok and requests an IP via dhcp. I see packets sending and receiving to some extent. The host Windows XP doesnt have any networking issues. I tried to connect from the host wired and wireless. Both work for the host, neither work for the DSL image. I bet its something simple that I am missing since I am new to DSL. I appreciate any assistance and am pretty excited about using this DSL.

Thanks!!

The 10.0.2.15 is normal. It is running in a virtual machine and the virtual machine responds with that very IP number.

Now as long a Windows networking is working then the network should pass thru and you should be able to access the net, web browser and email, etc.

Roberts-

Thank you very much for your assistance. I did try that and it works. I guess I was thinking that when validating network connectivity I could use ping and telnet from the DSL OS to destinations. Is there any way to use DSL that way? I was going to use that OS for network security testing type activities.

Thanks!
