Hey all

Trying to set up a very small server on my home network using DSL on a dual-CPU Pentium Pro 180MHz m/b. After much screwing around getting it to install (not DSL's fault, this little box sucks hardcore, needed to get the SYSLINUX ISO for it to install), the system seems to be working great, except one thing. Networking don't work, which makes it pretty much useless as the little server I needed it to be. The thing is, the card is detected, and configured correctly, and even my firewall which issues out IPs for my computers recognised it and gave it an address, but it couldn't ping out of it's own case.

Narrowed it down to the fact of the dual processors. Passed the nosmp option at boot, networking works perfectly now. But I kinda really would like to have both processors utilized. Any ideas why DSL doesn't like networking on this beast when SMP is enabled?

Sounds like a similar problem with the rt2500 series of network cards (native driver doesn't work with smp enabled)

You could double check for a newer driver, or even use ndiswrapper, or check out DSL-N.
