I just installed MySQL from the RPM's that are on the website using alien (I couldn't get the binaries to work)
EDIT: The binaries and tarballs were poorly labeled and I had downloaded the wrong one.
I recieved no error messages and it appeared to install fine. However, I need MySQL to work with PHP. PHP works alone, but when I reconfigure it, and even the first time I configured it, it couldn't find MySQL. The MySQL documentation says that the files for it should be in /var/lib/mysql and yet this folder is empty. WHat do I need to do to get PHP to configure with MySQL support, or how do I install the binary for MySQL under DSL? I would really appreciate any help anyone can give me with this.
