hey there..
i just installed DSL on the HD of my xbox a few days ago.
after figuring out on how to use netcardconfig (i am totally new to linux...) i got easy access to the internet via firefox and my router.
now today i wanted to check how to make those settings permanent so i dont have to run netcardconfig everytime, and i found a nice tutorial on this board.
BUT - here comes the problem: i turned on my xbox, run netcardconfig as usual, but i wasnt able to log on to the internet anymore!
the network itself is still running nicely, i can ping & access the xbox via ftp from a next computer. the internet connection is up & running as well.
my network data is as following:
xbox ip: 192.168.0.17 xbox broadcasting ip: 192.168.0.17 subnet: 255.255.255.0 gateway/router ip: 192.168.0.1 no dhcp running on the router, i chose "no" in netcardconfig as well.
what exactly is the broadcasting ip for? do i have to check "monkeyweb" in the DSL panel? do i have to uncheck "dhcp client" in the panel? dont think i did so yesterday when everything worked fine.
i restarted & retried everything several times already, always doing it exactly as i did yesterday.
any ideas/hints?
i have no keyboard for the xbox yet, so any solution avoiding the shell/bash would be nice, cause the virtual keyboard/gamepad combo is a pain in the ass...
thanks in advance...
EDIT: myDSL doesnt work anymore neither. also i cant edit lilo.conf (to add nodhcp) neither resolv.c onf cause i dopnt have write permissions. how can i log on as the right user / root ? (sorry i am absolutely clueless about linux and networking...)
what do i need a nameserver for anyway? as i am not using dhcp and my router should be doing the dns things.
i guess i am overlooking something very easy, cause this doesnt resemble what i heard about linux before i tried it.
