I have tried searching for the past two days on this forum and Google and I am still struggling. I am sure I am doing everything correctly but I must be missing a step somewhere. Please Help.
I am trying to share a directory in my DSL system so when I go to Network Neighborhood in Windows 2000 the shared Linux folder appears (e.g. /opt/lampp/htdocs).
Is there a step by step guide somewhere for setting up Samba on DSL?
I am trying everything multiple combinations of sudo, learning vi and manually editing smb.conf etc surely I am missing something it should not be this difficult.
I can ping from Windows to DSL and ping DSL to Windows fine. I have tried with and without my firewall I am at a loss.
I am not too fussed about Linux seeing Windows shares as I have no Windows shares. I want Windows to see Linux shares but have no idea where to start.
TIA
