Hi,

I'm trying to install DSL to the hd on my old TI laptop--Travelmate 4000M (DX4-75Mhz, 20MB ram, 2G hd, scsi(aha1524)+IDE, PCMCIA, not APM 1.0 compliant).

I have a  docking station which connects a cdrom to the laptop via the scsi connector.  I've tried specifying the cdrom via the scsi driver on install with aha152x=0x340,11,7,0 , which is known to work for very old slackware, and seems to load properly for modern debian derivatives (which don't work because of kernel issues with APM) but it does a scsi scan anyway, which is fruitless as the scsi adapter has no bios chip.

I boot from a floppy with an old aspi2dos.sys driver which enables the scsi and redirects the boot to the cdrom.  The DSL installer loads, but all install options (including failsafe) end up looking for the cdrom, not finding it, and dumping me to the shell since it can't find the Knoppix files. :(

Any advice on helping DSL find the cd?

TIA

Okay, how about this...

When the kernel is loading, it starts the scsi scan and does pause at the 1524.o, but can't find anything and goes on.
Anybody have suggestions on how to feed the driver the information it needs (but can't get on the scan), since the method I've been trying doesn't work?
