I have the 3.x ISO burned to a CD which boots successfully on an older Dell Latitude.  On this newer one, D610, I get the initial screen where you either hit <ENTER> or <F2> <F3> and from there NOTHING HAPPENS.  Not sure where to troubleshoot this.  Any suggestions.  The only thing I can think is that many months ago I had Dell replace the LCD Panel to reduce the resolution. I know that sounds crazy but I could not stand to look at the screen above 1024.  Could that be my problem and if so, will one of the F2 F3 options perhaps fix it?

hm, looks like a good wiki page.  Wonder if its good to have its own page, or there's one for a table of specific machine model quirks.

Quick search on "d610":
"Nothing happens" - black screen? try vga=normal
Crashes upon "bad EIP value"? try acpi=off and/or noacpi
