I got a JETBOOK laptop off E-bay that had it's hard drive wiped clean, my intention being to install Linux on it.
I have partitioned it sever times with both FAT32 and Linux ext2 and Linux swap. Numerous attempts at installing Damn Small Linux or Puppy Linux have failed. Each time when I check with e2fsck I get the message that the superblock is corrupted.
So far the FAT32 partitions seem to be o.k. and the check when fdisk creates shows them to be o.k.
Is the "superblock" the same thing as Windows registry?

Why doesn't this laptop like Linux ??
