Hi, I have an old laptop, compac armada 4131T (pentium 133MHz), on which I installed DSL on the harddisk.
I'm happy with the result so far, but the sound doesn't work for the moment.

the soundcard is a ES1788 plug and play audiodrive.
it is not detected during startup and sndconfig crashes

I found another topic on this card:
http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin....=es1788

but the commands don't work
I get
/lib/....../sb.o: init_module: No such device
any idea on how to solve this?

thanks in advance
Johan

post up your output of "lsmod" , and we'll see what IS detected.
Forget sndconfig..   it bombs with any newer sound devices.

You may need to rmmod something like soundcore BEFORE running
the modprobe commands..

Have you tried just simply 'modprobe sb'? Seems I have activated sound for this soundchip before. ???
